FALL IS FINALLY HERE!!!
We are so excited! Jesse and I both love this season and can’t wait to see all the changes that it will bring!

We had a great weekend…with nothing really planned…It WAS GREAT! We did yardwork, sat on our front porch (something we never take time to do) took long naps and took a long walk around the neighborhood. The weather was so nice. It was a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors.

This Friday we we are headed to Nascar speedpark in Sevierville with around 60+ preteens. Mountain Dew will be in our future I am sure of it :-) It should be alot of fun and will be our first outing with all our new 5th graders. We are quickly getting to know one another and wow…this class is a spunky one for sure.

Jess and I are planning to spend the rest of the weekend in Pigeon Forge for a little time away. Is it funny how a couple of days away can make a such a difference? We both are looking forward to the holidays this year and spending time with family. This year has been such a busy one for our family. When you are both in ministry, the weekends are usually not open to traveling and that has made it hard to spend alot of time with Jesse’s parents. The cool thing is that they understand what it’s like and you both cherish the time you do have that much more! Please continue to pray for Richard and Terry as they do have a serious potential buyer for their house in Canton. This would be a huge blessing/relief for them. God is doing such great things at their church in Dalton. It would be great if they could both move there really settle into the community. Yesterday Richard baptized 14 people and two new people made decisions. God is doing a great work and we are hearing awesome stories about it.

Thank you for your prayers as we continue to make tough decisions about fertility treatments. God is closing and opening doors and we rejoice to see His plan continue to unfold. So many of you have encouraged and blessed us during this time. We can’t tell you enough how much you mean to us. We are so blessed to have your support. For those of you looking for great resources to encourage others on this journey you need to go to www.sarahs-laughter.com. What a blessing this site has already been to me. There are real stories and testimonies…daily devotionals and I think they even have a support line if you need to just talk to someone or share a prayer request. Check it out.

Finally…I wanted to share a verse with you that seems to fit so well right now with all that is changing and happening around us. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” No matter who is elected president, if the stock market crashes, what color the leaves on the trees are…my Jesus will remain steadfast and unchanging. May that truth ground you today as you encounter this crazy, constantly changing world. We love you and Happy Harvest/Fall!

P.S. Fireproof comes out in theaters on Friday…this would be a great date night movie! From the makers of Facing the Giants… www.fireproofthemovie.com

My sister-in-law sent me some pictures of my brother yesterday. Most of which I had never seen before. When I opened each one, it was like for a moment he floated back into my life. It is the reason I love taking pictures and why, if I come to your house, I will want to see all your pictures of your loved ones. It captures a life, a moment, a memory that is gone forever. Here are a few of my amazing brother who now lives in heaven. I miss you Adam…more than I can say. I can’t wait to see you again.

Hopefully in a few weeks Jesse and I will be headed to GA to serve at a Disciple Now for the youth at Jesse’s Dad’s church in Dalton. This will be the first time since Christmas that we have been there! They have been up here a couple of times, but we are long overdue for a good visit! We miss them and are excited about sharing with the youth during that weekend. Some of our preteen leaders are going along to help me bring SOH to the girls and Jess will be talking to the guys. I am really looking forward to it!

Jesse’s Dad has interviewed for a teaching position at a seminary extension in Dalton. Please pray that he gets it! Also, they have had their house in Canton on the market for almost a year now. The church they serve at is an hour away, so Richard stays in an apartment near the church during the week and then goes home to the house in Canton through Saturday. They have been doing this for over 6 months now, so they are ready to sell the house and get settled in one place soon.

I love my “other family” and can’t wait to spend some time with them soon!

Please pray for my nephew James this weekend. He is having sinus surgery to help relieve the blockages and constant infections he has been having. He is only 4 so it’s a pretty big deal for our little man. Thanks!

coffee news for callie July 21, 2008

Even though Callie got some bad news last week about her diagnosis of Diabetes, this week she can praise the Lord for a new job! Callie has been looking for a new job for a while now, and God has provided something awesome.

Liquid Highway is a coffee place that Callie would insist that we always go to when we came to Greenville to visit her. They have this one drink called a Milky Way that is AMAZING. Anyway, little did she know that her passion for coffee would eventually be her next career. She has accepted their offer to become a store manager and will be doing some marketing and PR work too.

The awesome thing is that this place isn’t just another coffee shop. They actually support several mission organizations with their profits. You can read more about their mission on their website: http://www.liquidhighway.com/ How incredible is that?

We are so proud of our little bug in Greenville and praise the Lord for His provisions!

Jesse and I have embarked on a new adventure over the past two weeks. Some good friends of ours shared with us about a Bible study all about eating habits. Setting Captives Free is a ministry that provides this study online and totally free. We have been blown away by this study already and have learned so much. Food has been a huge idol in my life. I look forward to it, depend on it and look to it to satisfy so many times and totally ignore my time with the Lord. So many times I go to the pantry to get a snack, and it hits me now…I AM NOT EVEN HUNGRY!!! Why am I eating then? Habit, I am bored, etc. The eating plan has really been adjustment, but we can already see how God is teaching us to depend on him when we are weak. Thanks E & B for sharing this great study with us.

As God has been allowing to learn these things, we find out yesterday that Jesse’s sister Callie has been diagnosed with Diabetes. They think it is the type 2, but will run more tests to see. So now she too will have to focus in on her food choices and begin to change some things. We talked with her last night and she was pretty shaken up. But she will rise to the challenge and we will support her 110%. So God is really showing us all as a family how powerful food is, and what changes we need to make to honor him with it.

Jesse was approached by his boss this week about taking a different position within the company. They would like him to become a general manager! He would mainly work at the Knoxville branch, but would work some in Sevierville and Alcoa when needed. I think he was shocked at first, but seems really excited!

Congratulations to my sweet husband. He is a dedicated and talented young man who I know lives to please and honor Jesus and I am so proud of all the wonderful things I see God doing in his life. Way to go Jesse and thank you Jesus.
